What does this do?

This utility updates the BIOS to version R2169M3 and provides the following benefits:

Enhancements:

  • Improves system performance during startup
  • Improves the hard disk drive password process
  • Adds support for the Intel Virtualization Technology and provides the ability to enable or disabled this feature within the BIOS settings

Issues resolved:

  • The computer will not boot when using a DVD-R/RW disc
  • A black screen with blinking cursor appears when attempting to resume from hibernation after removing an ExpressCard module
  • A brief blank screen occurs when installing Windows XP operating system with SP3
  • The system hangs when using the touchpad after setting the RAID configuration
  • In the BIOS settings, on the Edit Boot Option screen, the keyboard stops responding after using the touchpad
  • Unable to run the hard disk drive recovery on systems pre-installed with the Windows XP downgrade
  • Unable to set the BIOS password using specific combinations
  • The computer resumes from sleep mode when the lid is closed quickly
  • The startup time is longer than usual when the TPM function is enabled

Important Notes
  • WARNING!!: If the machine password and user password are set in the BIOS setup screen, clear both passwords before installing this update. The passwords may be re-set after the update is complete.
  • WARNING!!: If the Microsoft BitLocker™ security feature is being used, turn it off before installing this update. The BitLocker feature may be turned on after the update is complete.
  • WARNING!!: If the hard disk password is enabled, disable it before installing this update. The hard disk password may be re-enable after the update is complete.
  • WARNING!!: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
  • During the installation of this update:
    • Do not turn the computer off.
    • Do not allow the computer to enter Standby or Hibernation states.
    • Do not start other programs.
    • Do not connect any peripherals.
  • Some models may not have the hardware required to use the Intel Virtualization Technology. For models that do not support this feature, the Intel Virtualization Technology is not displayed in the BIOS settings. For additional information, the Intel Processor Identification Utility
  • can be used to determine if the processor in your computer supports the Intel Virtualization Technology.

  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended that you print out these instructions for use as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. WARNING!!: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
  2. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  3. Download the ISBSYS-00209810-1030.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ISBSYS-00209810-1030.EXE file to begin the installation.
  5. At the "BIOS Update" screen, click "Next".
  6. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
  7. At the "VAIO BIOS Update Tool" screen, verify that the version to be installed is R2169M3 and then click "Update".
  8. At the "WBFLASH" dialog box, click "OK" to confirm that the system BIOS will be updated.
  9. At the "BIOS Update successfully completed" dialog box, click "OK" to shutdown the computer.
  10. After the computer shuts down, wait for 30 seconds, then power on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS Update is complete.
