Important Notes
  • This software upgrade is a pre-release version. It is provided "as is" and the use of said software is at your own risk. There is no technical support available for pre-release software.
  • To install this upgrade, you will need to create a bootable floppy disk to receive the update files. To prepare a floppy disk for use with this update, please refer to the Create A Bootable Floppy Disk procedure.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the NT4SOUND.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. After the update is downloaded, the Plug-n-Play feature in the computer BIOS must be turned off. Follow these steps:
    1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
    2. Select "Restart" and click OK.
    3. While the system restarts, at the black Sony screen, press the F2 key.
    4. At the Main BIOS screen, press the RIGHT ARROW key until Advanced is highlighted.
    5. At the Advanced screen, press the DOWN ARROW key until Plug & Play O/S is highlighted.
    6. Press the ENTER key to open the menu.
    7. Press the UP or DOWN ARROW key to select No and press the ENTER key.
    8. Press the F10 key.
    9. Use the LEFT or RIGHT ARROW key to highlight Yes and press the ENTER key to exit saving changes.
  3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the NT4SOUND.EXE file to begin the installation. Simply follow the prompts as they appear during the installation.
  4. Please print out a copy of the ReadMe.txt file which appears toward the end of the installation. This text file explains how to complete the NT 4 driver installation.

The installation of the audio driver is complete.
