What does this do?

This utility is a power management application that displays battery information for your Sony Notebook computer.

Important Notes
  • Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
    1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
    2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (only for the PCG-F370, PCG-F390, PCG-F420, PCG-F430, PCG-F450, PCG-F480, PCG-F490, PCG-XG9, PCG-XG18, and PCG-XG19)
    3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
    4. Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library

    If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Microsoft Windows 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.

  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • Before installing this update, be sure the computer is connected to AC power.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the BATSCOPE2.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the BATSCOPE2.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "BATSCOPE2 - Welcome" box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will appear during the installation. As the installation continues, these boxes will close automatically.
  4. At the "BATSCOPE2 - Installation Folder" box, click Continue to extract the installation files into the temporary folder (by default, C:\Docume~1\Cisckn~1\Locals~1\Temp\Batscope2). A Command Prompt box will appear and the files will be installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
    NOTE: If a "BATSCOPE2" message box appears, click Yes to create the temporary installation folder.
  5. At the "Choose the Setup Language" box, verify English is selected and click Next.
  6. At the "Welcome" box, click Next.
  7. At the "Choose Destination Location" box, click Next to install the BatteryScope utility in the default Destination Directory (C:\Program Files\BatteryScope_W2K).
  8. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation will be complete.
