Sony PCG-Z505R Notebook VAIO Action Setup Utility for Sony Power Key [Win2000]

• Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
  1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
  2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (only for the PCG-N505VE and PCG-N505VX)
  3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
  4. Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library

  If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Windows 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

1. Download the PPK1.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click PPK1.EXE to begin the installation.
3. At the “VAIO Action Setup Utility – Welcome” box, click Continue.
4. At the “Welcome to the VAIO Action Setup 1.0.01.13190(1JA/1UA)Setup Wizard” screen, click Next.
5. At the “Ready to the Install the Program” screen, click Install. Please wait while the files are installed.
6. At the “Completing the VAIO Action Setup Setup wizard” screen, click Finish.
7. Follow the steps below to restart the computer:
   1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
   2. At the “Shut Down Windows” box, select “Restart” and click OK.

After the computer restarts, installation of the VAIO Action Setup Utility is complete.

If it is necessary to install the PPK1.EXE utility again, you will need to first remove the PPK1.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the PPK1.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the “VAIO Action Setup Utility – Welcome” window, click Continue.
3. If an “Overwrite Protection” box appears, click Yes to All.
4. At the “Welcome to the VAIO Action Setup Setup wizard” screen, click Next.
5. At the “Program Maintenance” screen, select “Remove” and then click Next.
6. At the “Remove the Program” screen, click Remove.
7. At the “Completing the VAIO Action Setup Setup wizard,” click Finish.
8. Follow the steps below to restart the computer:
   1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
   2. At the “Shut Down Windows” box, select “Restart” and click OK.

After the computer restarts, the PPK1.EXE file can be reinstalled.
