- Download the ILINK.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ILINK.EXE file to begin the installation.
- At the “Sony iLINK (1394) PCI Host Controller – Welcome” box, click Continue. A Command Prompt box will appear as the files are installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
- At the “Setup Complete” screen, click Finish.
The installation of the i.LINK(1394) PCI Host Controller driver is now complete.
NOTE: If it is necessary to install the drivers for the Sony CXD1974A i.LINK(1394) PCI Host Controller again, you will need to first remove the ILINK.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- At the “Control Panel” window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- At the “Add/Remove Programs” window, click the “iLink (1394) PCI Host Controller” entry to highlight it.
- Click the Change/Remove button.
- At the “Welcome” screen, click “Remove” and then click Next.
- At the “Confirm File Deletion” window, click OK to remove all of its components.
- If a “ReadOnly File Detected” message box appears, click the box next to “Don’t display this message again” to check it and then click Yes.
- At the “Maintenance Complete” screen, click Finish.
- Click Close to exit the “Add/Remove Programs” window.
- At the “Control Panel” window, double-click the System icon.
- At the “System Properties” window, click the Hardware tab.
- In the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
- At the “Device Manager” window, click the plus (+) next to the “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” category to expand it.
- Under the “IEEE 1394 Bus host controllers” category, right-click the “Sony CXD1974A i.LINK(1394) PCI Host Controller” entry.
- From the menu, click Uninstall.
- At the “Confirm Device Removal” box, click OK.
- Click the X in the top-right corner to close the “Device Manager” window.
- Click OK to close the “System Properties” box.
- Click the X in the top-right corner to close the “Control Panel” window.
- Follow the steps below to restart the computer.
- Click Start and click Shut Down.
- At the “Shut Down Windows” box, select “Restart” and click OK.
After the notebook has restarted, the ILINK.EXE file can be reinstalled.
