Sony PCG-Z505R Notebook Sony HotKey Utility [Win2000]

• Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
  1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
  2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (only for the PCG-C1XS, PCG-F370/F390, PCG-F420/F430/F450/F480/F490, PCG-N505VE, PCG-N505VX, PCG-XG9, PCG-XG18/XG19, PCG-Z505HE/Z505HS)
  3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
  4. Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library

  If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Windows 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

1. Download the HOTKEY.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click HOTKEY.EXE to begin the installation.
3. At the “HOTKEY Utility – Welcome” box, click Continue.
4. At the “Welcome to HOTKEY Utility Setup” screen, click Next.
5. At the “Choose Setup Language” box, verify “English” is selected and click OK.
6. At “Welcome” box, click Next.
7. At the “Setup Complete” screen, click Finish.
8. Follow the steps below to restart the computer.
   1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
   2. At the “Shut Down Windows” box, select “Restart” and click OK.

After the computer restarts, installation of the Sony Hotkey Utility is complete.

NOTE: If it is necessary to install the HOTKEY.EXE utility again, you will need to first remove the HOTKEY.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the HOTKEY.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the “HOTKEY – Welcome” window, click Continue.
3. At the “Confirm File Deletion” box, click OK.
4. If a “ReadOnly File Detected” message box appears, click the box next to “Don’t display this message again” to check it and then click Yes.
5. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
6. At the “Control Panel” window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
7. At the “Add/Remove Programs” window, select the “HotKey Utility” entry.
8. Click the Change/Remove button.
9. At the “Confirm File Deletion” box, click “Yes” to remove all the components.
10. At the “Remove Programs From Your Computer” box, click OK.
11. Click Close to exit the “Add/Remove Programs” window.
12. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the “Control Panel” window.
