Sony PCG-Z505JE Notebook Sony PowerPanel Upgrade Utility [Win2000]

• For Windows 2000 Upgrade systems only: Before installing Windows 2000 Professional or this update, please be sure to read Installing the Windows 2000 Operating System. Most of Sony’s Windows 2000 software updates require you to install Windows 2000 Professional in C:\WINNT. If Windows 2000 is not installed in this location, these updates will not install correctly.
• [For Windows 2000 Clean Install Upgrade Only] In order for Power Panel utility to install and work properly, you will need to preinstall the following Windows 2000 upgrade core drivers, libraries, and utilities. Please download and install in the order listed below:
  1. Sony Notebook Control Device Driver
  2. Sony Program I/O Control Device Driver
  3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
• If you see the error message ” Settmp.exe has generated an error and will be closed by windows …” during installation, click the OK button to continue. This will not effect the Power Panel installation.
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

1. Download the SOP009KNDL.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SOP009KNDL.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the “Sony Power Panel 4.0.1-S009A For Windows 2000 – InstallShield Wizard” box, click Continue. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
   NOTE: If an “Information” box appears prompting you to reboot to verify the system model, click OK. After the computer restarts, please continue with step 5 above.
4. At the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” screen, verify that “Yes, I want to restart my computer now.” is selected and click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony PowerPanel Upgrade Utility is complete.
