Important Notes
  • Before installing Windows 2000 Professional or this update, please be sure to read Installing the Windows 2000 Operating System. Most of Sony's Windows 2000 software updates require you to install Windows 2000 Professional in C:\WINNT. If Windows 2000 is not installed in this location, these updates will not install correctly. If a Windows 2000 BIOS update is available for your model of notebook, it is strongely recommended to install it before installing this update.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the SPI60W2K.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SPI60W2K.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Sony Programmable I/O Control Device Driver 6.0 for Windows 2000 - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
  4. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony Programmable I/O Control Device driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Sony Programmable I/O Control Device Driver, you will need to first remove the SPI60W2K.EXE installation files. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" box, from the "Currently installed programs" list, click the "Sony Programmable I-O Control Device 6.0 for Win2K" entry to highlight it.
  4. Click the "Change/Remove" button. Please wait as the files are uninstalled.
  5. Click OK to close the "Add/Remove Programs" box.
  6. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Control Panel" window.

The uninstallation process is now complete. You may redownload and reinstall the SPI60W2K.EXE file.
