Important Notes

  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the ALP502A6.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the ALP502A6.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Alps Pointing Device Driver and Control Utility - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
    NOTE: If a "Confirm File Deletion" box appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-7 to reinstall the update.
  4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue the installation. A Command Prompt box will appear as the files are installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
  5. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Touchpad driver is complete.

Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to reinstall the Sony Alps Driver and Control Utility, you will need to first remove the ALP502A6.EXE installation files. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, click the "Alp 50502A6" entry to highlight it.
  4. Click the Change/Remove button.
  5. At the "InstallShield Wizard" window, select "Remove" and click Next to remove the components.
  6. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK.
    NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don't display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
  7. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.

The uninstallation process is complete. You may redownload and reinstall the ALP502A6.EXE file.
