Important Notes
  • Before installing this utility, be sure the computer is connected to AC power.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the SONYPI.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SONYPI.EXE to begin the installation.
  3. At the “SONYPI – Welcome” box, click Continue. A DOS BOX will appear and the files will be installed. Once finished, the DOS BOX will close automatically.
  4. At the “Setup Complete” screen, click Finish to complete the installation.

If it is necessary to install the Sony Programmable I/O Control Device Utility again, you will need to first remove the SONYPI.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the directory where the SONYPI.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
  2. At the “SONYPI – Welcome” box, click Continue.
  3. At the “Confirm File Deletion” message box, click OK to remove all of its components.
  4. If a “ReadOnly File Detected” message box appears, click the box next to “Don’t display this message again” to check it and then click Yes.
  5. At the “Maintenance Complete” screen, click Finish.
  6. At the Windows Desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
  7. At the menu, click “Properties.”
  8. At the “System Properties” box, select the Hardware tab.
  9. In the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
  10. At the “Device Manager” window, click the plus next to the “System devices” category to expand it.
  11. Under the “System devices” category, right-click the “Sony Programmable I/O Control Device” entry.
  12. From the menu, click “Uninstall…”.
  13. At the “Confirm Device Removal” box, click OK.
  14. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the “Device Manager” window.
  15. Click OK to close the “System Properties” box.

The SONYPI.EXE file can now be reinstalled.
