2. Download the SOFMSC-00542201-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SOFMSC-00542201-US.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. At the “Sony Memory Stick Slot Firmware Update Tool for Windows 2…” screen, click “Next”.
5. At the “License Agreement” dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click “I Agree” to continue with the installation.
6. At the “Welcome to InstallShield Wizard for Memory Stick FW Update Tool” box, click “Next”.
7. At the “InstallShield Wizard Complete” box, click “Finish”.
8. At the “Information” box, click “OK”.

Before you proceed with the Memory Stick Slot Firmware Update, you will need to have standard size Memory Stick media available. Ensure that the Memory Stick media does not contain any important data, as the data will be deleted during the update process. Make sure the Memory Stick media is not write-protected.

1. Click “Start”, then click “All Programs” (or “Programs” if you have Windows 2000 operating system installed).
2. Point to “Memory Stick Slot Firmware Update Tool”, then click “Memory Stick Slot Firmware Update Tool”.
3. At the “Advanced” box, insert the prepared Memory Stick media into the Memory Stick slot, and then click “OK”.
4. At the “About Writing Data” box, click “OK”.
5. At the “Confirm” box, click “OK”.
6. At the “Write Protect Setting” box, eject the Memory Stick media from the Memory Stick slot and set the Memory Stick media’s write-protect switch to “LOCK”.
7. Reinsert the Memory Stick media into the Memory Stick slot.
8. At the “Shutdown” box, click “OK”.NOTE: The computer will shut down. Make sure to leave the Memory Stick media in the Memory Stick slot.
9. Wait at least 30 seconds, then power on the computer.
10. After the computer restarts, a “Start” box will appear. Eject the Memory Stick media from the Memory Stick slot and set the Memory Stick media’s write-protect switch to the off position.
11. Reinsert the Memory Stick media into the Memory Stick slot, and then click “OK”.NOTE: The Memory Stick media will begin the process of formatting.
12. At the “Update Succeeded” box, click “OK”.
