What does this do?

This utility installs the nVidia GeForce™ FX Go5600 Graphics Controller driver to resolve an issue where a blue screen appears during playback of a DVD movie after installing the Windows XP operating system Service Pack 2.

Important Notes
  • This update is only for use with computers that ship with an NVidia GeForce™ FX Go5600 graphics card. Follow the steps below to ensure this update is applies to your computer.
    1. On the Windows Desktop, right click on My Computer icon.
    2. On the dropdown menu, click on Properties.
    3. At the "System properties" box, click the Hardware tab and then click the Device Manager button.
    4. At the "Device Manager" window, click the (+) sign next to "Display adapter" drives category to expand the menu.
    5. The "NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600" should be listed.
      • If it is, please continue with this update.
      • If it is not, then this update is not for your computer.
  • During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the NV-B46900802FB04US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double click the NV-B46900802FB04US.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600 Video Driver for Windows XP" screen, click Next.
  4. At the "License Agreement" dialog box, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree".
  5. If "Uninstall Current NVIDIA Video Driver" box appears, click OK to uninstall current version of video driver.
  6. At the "NVIDIA Uninstall" box, click Yes.
  7. At the "NVIDIA Uninstall" box, click OK to restart computer.
  8. After the computer restarts, the Video driver update utility will launch. At the "Finished" box, click Finish.
  9. At the "Install" box, click OK to restart computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Graphics Controller driver is complete. Please continue with the next section to load the default overlay controls setting.

Instructions to Load the Default Overlay Controls Setting
  1. Right click on the desktop, click on Properties.
  2. At the "Display Properties" box, click the Setting Tab, then click Advanced.
  3. At the "NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5600" properties box, click the GeForce FX Go5600 tab.
  4. On the left side of the "Additional Properties" box , click Overlay Control. (If the box is not displayed, click "Additional Properties".
  5. Click "Restore Defaults" (if Restore is grayed out, the default setting is already loaded.), and click OK.
