Important Notes
  • If the Sony System Recovery CDs are used to restore the computer to the original shipping configuration, this update will need to be reinstalled.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the PP009LX.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. At the Taskbar, in the notification area (next to the time), right-click the PowerPanel icon. The PowerPanel icon looks like a grey control box with a blue battery along the right side.
    NOTE: If the PowerPanel icon is hidden, click the right arrow button to display the hidden Taskbar icons.
  3. From the PowerPanel menu, click Close.

  4. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PP009LX.EXE file to begin the installation.
  5. At the "PowerPanel for Windows XP - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. Several setup boxes will briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
    NOTE: If a "Software Status" box appears prompting you to continue the installation, click Yes.
  6. At the "InstallShield Wizard Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now." and click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony PowerPanel Utility is complete.
