What does this do?

This utility updates the system BIOS to resolve an issue where the Fn Key on the right side of keyboard does not work correctly.

Important Notes

• Before installing this update, be sure that the computer is running from AC power and that all peripheral devices are disconnected. If the installation of the BIOS update is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
• During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. Download the PH-A42G30802HC04US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PH-A42G30802HC04US.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "BIOS R0042G3 Update Utility for Microsoft Windows XP" box, click Next.
4. At the License Agreement dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation. Please wait while the update utility extracts the necessary files for the update.
5. At the "Phoenix WinPhlash for VAIO" box, click Browse.
6. At the "Specify the New BIOS File" box, double click the "R0042G3.WPH" file. The text box below "Specify new BIOS file:" should display "R0042G3.WPH".
7. Click "FlashBIOS" to begin the BIOS update.
8. At the "Phoenix WinPhlash for VAIO" Warning box, confirm that all other programs are closed, all peripheral devices are disconnected, and that the AC Adapter is connected to the notebook. Click OK to proceed with the BIOS update. Please wait while the utility updates the BIOS.
9. At the "System BIOS was successfully updated" screen, click Shutdown.
10. After the system shuts down, wait for a few seconds, and then turn on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS update utility is complete.
