You May Need This

1. Required: Sony Shared Library This update is required if you have performed a clean install of the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system (i.e., installed from a commercial, off-the-shelf, version rather than using the Recovery Wizard or Recovery Media Kit).

• Required = Unless stated otherwise, this file must be installed BEFORE the Sony Notebook Utilities in order for it to work properly.
  • If more than one Required file is listed, install them in the order presented on this page. Related (optional) files should not be considered in the installation order.
• Related (optional) = This file may be an add-on. Click the title and read the description to determine whether or not you want to install it.

Important Notes

• Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) must be installed before installing the Sony Notebook Utilities. If you have performed a clean install of the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system (i.e., installed from a commercial, off-the-shelf, version rather than using the Recovery Wizard or Recovery Media Kit), please install Microsoft Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) using Windows Update or from the Microsoft web site.
• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. If you have performed a clean install of the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system (i.e., installed from a commercial, off-the-shelf, version rather than using the Recovery Wizard or Recovery Media Kit), please ensure that all original device drivers from the Sony support site have been installed on the computer before installing the Sony Notebook Utilities.
2. It is not necessary to revert to the original drivers if you have properly installed updates from the Sony support site.
3. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
4. Download the SOAOTH-43700000-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
5. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the SOAOTH-43700000-US.EXE file to begin the installation.
6. At the "User Account Control" screen, click "Continue".
7. At the "Sony Notebook Utilities" screen, click "Next".
8. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
9. At the "Finish" screen, click "Finish".
   Note: A restart of the computer may be required to complete the installation. If a restart is required, the installation will automatically restart when Windows resumes. If prompted, click "OK" to restart the computer, and then continue the installation steps.
10. At the "Sony Notebook Utilities" screen, click "Next".
11. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.
12. At the "Finish" screen, click "Finish".
13. When prompted, click "OK" to restart the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony Notebook Utilities is complete.
