Important Notes

• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. Download the MODEMZ505.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the MODEMZ505.EXE file to begin the installation.
3. At the "MODEMZ505 - Welcome" box, click Continue.
4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue the installation. A Command Prompt box will appear and the files will be installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
5. At the "Setup Complete" screen, click Finish.

The installation of the updated modem drivers is complete.

If it is necessary to install the HCF PCI Modem Drivers again, you will need to first remove the MODEMZ505.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the directory where the MODEMZ505.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
2. At the "MODEMZ505 - Welcome" box, click Continue.
3. At the "Setup" box, select "Remove" and then click Next.
4. At the "Confirm File Deletion" window, click OK to remove all of its components.
   NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don''t display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
5. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.
6. At the Windows Desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
7. From the menu, select Properties.
8. At the "System Properties" window, click the Hardware tab.
9. In the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
10. At the "Device Manager" window, click the plus (+) next to the "Modems" category to expand it.
11. Under the "Modem" category, right-click the "Conexant HFC PCI Modem" entry.
12. From the menu, click Uninstall.
13. At the "Confirm Device Removal" box, click OK.
14. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Device Manager" window.
15. Click OK to close the "System Properties" box.
16. Follow the steps below to restart the computer.
    1. Click Start and click Shut Down.
    2. At the "Shut Down Windows" box, select "Restart" and click OK.

After the computer restarts, the MODEMZ505.EXE file can be reinstalled.
