Important Notes

• Before installing this update, be sure the computer is either running from AC power or using a fully charged battery pack. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
• This procedure will update the notebook BIOS for Windows 2000. It may be necessary to remove and reinstall any installed hardware that did not ship with the notebook. For assistance reinstalling the hardware, please consult the product documentation or contact the product manufacturer.
• To install this upgrade, you will need to create a bootable floppy disk to receive the firmware update files. To prepare a floppy disk for use with this update, please refer to the Create A Bootable Floppy Disk procedure.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. Download the BIOS04Z0.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click BIOS04Z0.EXE to begin the installation.
3. At the "BIOS04Z0 - Welcome" box, click Continue.
4. At the "BIOS Version W2K04Z0 Upgrade Utility" screen, click Next.
5. At the "Copying Files" screen, insert a formatted bootable floppy disk in the disk drive (A:), and then click Next. Please wait as the files are copied to the floppy disk.
6. At the "Finish copying files" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected. Leave the floppy disk in the drive and click Finish to restart the notebook. The notebook will boot the floppy disk and run the BIOS update utility. After the update is complete, the notebook will turn off.
7. Eject the floppy disk from the drive. It is recommended that you keep the disk in a safe place in case it becomes necessary to reinstall the BIOS update.
8. Turn on the notebook.

After the computer restarts, installation of the BIOS update is complete.
