Important Notes
- Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
- Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
- Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (only for the PCG-C1XS, PCG-F370/F390, PCG-F420/F430/F450/F480/F490, PCG-N505VE, PCG-N505VX, PCG-XG9, PCG-XG18/XG19, PCG-Z505HE/Z505HS)
- Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
- Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library
If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Microsoft Windows 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them. - To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
- It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
- Download the HOTKEY.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
- Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click HOTKEY.EXE to begin the installation.
- At the "HOTKEY Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.
- At the "Welcome to HOTKEY Utility Setup" screen, click Next.
- At the "Choose Setup Language" box, verify "English" is selected and click OK.
- At "Welcome" box, click Next.
- At the "Setup Complete" screen, click Finish.
- Follow the steps below to restart the computer.
- Click Start and click Shut Down.
- At the "Shut Down Windows" box, select "Restart" and click OK.
After the computer restarts, installation of the Sony Hotkey Utility is complete.
NOTE: If it is necessary to install the HOTKEY.EXE utility again, you will need to first remove the HOTKEY.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:
- Go to the directory where the HOTKEY.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
- At the "HOTKEY - Welcome" window, click Continue.
- At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK.
- If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don''t display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
- Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
- At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
- At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, select the "HotKey Utility" entry.
- Click the Change/Remove button.
- At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click "Yes" to remove all the components.
- At the "Remove Programs From Your Computer" box, click OK.
- Click Close to exit the "Add/Remove Programs" window.
- Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Control Panel" window.
