What does this do?

This utility will install the Sony ATA PC Card Driver for the PCGA-CD51 CDROM drive and resolve the issue where the CDROM drive makes thumping noises when playing audio CDs.

Important Notes
  • Before installing this update, be sure that the PCGA-CD51 CDROM drive is connected via the computer''s PC Card slot.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.
Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the CD51110.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the CD51110.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Sony PCGA - CD51 PC Card Driver 1.10.2 Installation Utility - InstallShield Wizard" box, click Next. A Command Prompt box will appear as the files are installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
    NOTE: If a "Welcome" screen appears, you have already installed this update. Click OK to remove the existing installation files and then repeat steps 4-6 to reinstall the update.
  4. At the "Setup Complete" screen, confirm that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Sony PCGA-CD51 ATA PC Card Driver is complete.



Uninstall Instructions

If it is necessary to install the Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card driver again, you will need to first remove the CD51110.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Go to where the CD51110.EXE file was downloaded and double-click it.
  2. At the "Welcome" screen, select "Remove" and then click Next.
  3. At the "Confirm File Deletion" box, click OK to remove all of the components.
    NOTE: If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don''t display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
  4. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.
The uninstallation is complete. You may now redownload and reinstall the CD51110.EXE file.
