What does this do?

This utility installs the Sony 16-Bit ATA PC Card driver to provide operating system compatibility for the PCGA-CD51 and PCG-CD51/A CDROM drives.

Important Notes
  • Before installing this update, be sure that the PCGA-CD51 CDROM drive is connected via the computer''s PC Card slot.
  • During the installation of this update, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the CD51.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the CD51.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Sony PCGA-CD51 Update Driver - Welcome" box, click Continue.
  4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" screen, click Yes. A Command Prompt box will appear as the files are installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
  5. If a "Completing the Found New Hardware Wizard" screen appears, click Finish.
  6. At the "Setup Complete" screen, confirm that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.
After Windows has restarted, the installation of the Sony PCGA-CD51 CDROM driver is complete.

Installation Verification (Optional)
  1. At the Windows Desktop, right-click the My Computer icon.
  2. From the menu, select Properties.
  3. At the "System Properties" box, click the Hardware tab.
  4. In the Hardware tab, click the Device Manager button.
  5. At the "Device Manager" window, click the plus (+) next to the "SCSI and RAID controllers" category.
  6. Under the "SCSI and RAID controllers" category, double-click the "Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card" entry.
    NOTE: If the "Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card" entry is not displayed in Device Manager, redownload and reinstall the CD51.EXE.
  7. At the "Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card Properties" box, in the "Device status" section, verify that "This device is working properly" is displayed.
    NOTE: If the Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card is not functioning correctly, redownload and install the CD51.EXE.
  8. Click OK to close the "Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card Properties" box.
  9. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Device Manager" window.
  10. Click OK to close the "System Properties" box.
    NOTE: If it is necessary to install the Sony 16Bit ATA PC Card driver again, you will need to first remove the CD51.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:
    1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
    2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
    3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, click the "Sony 16BIT ATA PC Card Driver" entry to highlight it.
    4. Click the Change/Remove button.
    5. At the "Welcome" screen, click "Remove" and then click Next.
    6. At the "Confirm File Deletion" window, click OK to remove all of its components.
    7. If a "ReadOnly File Detected" message box appears, click the box next to "Don''t display this message again" to check it and then click Yes.
    8. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.
    9. Click Close to exit the "Add/Remove Programs" window.
    10. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Control Panel" window.

    The uninstallation is complete. You may now redownload and reinstall the CD51.EXE file.
