What does this do?

This utility updates the NeoMagic MagicMedia™ 256AV Video driver.

Important Notes
  • To install these drivers correctly, this utility requires Windows 2000 to be installed on the boot partition (C:). The drivers will not be installed correctly if Windows 2000 is installed in a different hard drive partition. To perform a "Clean Install" of Windows 2000 Professional in the (C:) partition, please read Installing the Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating System.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the NEO256AV.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the NEO256AV.EXE file to begin the installation.
  3. At the "NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV Video Driver Upgrade Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.
  4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue the installation. A Command Prompt box will appear and the files will be installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
  5. At the "Setup Complete" screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" and click Finish.

After the computer restarts, installation of the updated video driver is complete.

If it is necessary to install the NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV Video Drivers again, you will need to first remove the NEO256AV.EXE installation files. To do so, follow these steps:

  1. Click Start, point to Settings, and click Control Panel.
  2. At the "Control Panel" window, double-click the Add/Remove Programs icon.
  3. At the "Add/Remove Programs" window, click the "Neomagic Video Driver" entry to highlight it.
  4. Click the Change/Remove button.
  5. At the "Welcome" screen, click "Remove" and then click Next.
  6. At the "Select Components" screen, verify that all of the components are checked and click Next.
  7. At the "Maintenance Complete" screen, click Finish.
  8. Click Close to exit the "Add/Remove Programs" window.
  9. Click the X in the top-right corner to close the "Control Panel" window.

The NEO256AV.EXE file can now be reinstalled.
