Important Notes
  • Before installing this utility, you must first install the following Core Driver components in the order listed below:
    1. Sony Notebook Control Device Utility
    2. Sony Programmable I/O Control Device (only for the PCG-F370/F390, PCG-F420/F430/F450/F480/F490, PCG-N505VE, PCG-N505VX, PCG-XG9, PCG-XG18/XG19, PCG-Z505HE/Z505HS)
    3. Sony Utility Dynamic Link Library
    4. Sony Extended BIOS Dynamic Link Library

    If you have already installed these components on the computer (for another Microsoft Windows 2000 software update), it is not necessary to reinstall them.

  • To install these drivers correctly, this utility requires Windows 2000 to be installed on the boot partition (C:). The drivers will not be installed correctly if Windows 2000 is installed in a different hard drive partition. To perform a "Clean Install" of Windows 2000 Professional in the (C:) partition, please read Installing the Microsoft Windows 2000 Operating System.
  • To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
  • It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions
  1. Download the ALPS.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
  2. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click ALPS.EXE to begin the installation.
  3. At the "Alps Pointing Device Driver and Control Utility - Welcome" box, click Continue.
  4. At the "Digital Signature Not Found" box, click Yes to continue the installation. A Command Prompt box will appear as the files are installed. Once finished, the Command Prompt box will close automatically.
  5. At the "Setup Complete" screen, verify that "Yes, I want to restart my computer now" is selected and then click Finish.

After the computer restarts, installation of the Alps Pointing Device Driver And Control Utility is complete.
