What does this do?

This utility updates the Phoenix BIOS to version R0100J0, and addresses the following issues:

• Power up issues when running on batteries.
• The touchpad does not function after resuming from Standby mode.

Important Notes

• WARNING!!: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
• Before installing this update, make sure all other programs are closed, and all peripherals are disconnected.
• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.
• To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. WARNING!!: Before installing this update, be sure the computer is running from AC power. If the installation of the BIOS is interrupted by power loss, the computer may not operate correctly or at all!
2. Before installing this update, make sure all other programs are closed, and all peripherals are disconnected.
3. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
4. Download the PHBSYS-00846913-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
5. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the PHBSYS-00846913-US.EXE file to begin the installation.
6. At the "Phoenix BIOS Update Utility for Microsoft Windows XP" screen, click "Next".
7. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.NOTE: Please wait while the update extracts the necessary files.
8. At the "VAIO BIOS Update Tool 1.0.01.10181" box, click "Update".
9. At the "WBFLASH" box with the message "Do you want to update the system BIOS?", click "OK".NOTE: Please wait while the utility updates the BIOS. This may take several minutes.
10. At the "WBFLASH" box with the message "BIOS Update successfully complete", click "OK" to shutdown the computer.NOTE: An EXPLORER.EXE error message may appear when the computer is shutting down after performing the BIOS update.
11. After the computer shuts down, wait for a few seconds, and then turn on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the BIOS update is complete.
