What does this do?

This utility updates the Matsushita UJ-841 DVD Writer Optical Drive firmware to version 1.11 and resolves an issue where DVD media burned using this optical disc drive cannot be read on Sony optical disc drives.

• Do not terminate this program while it is running.
• During the installation of this file, be sure that you are logged in as the Administrator or as a user with Administrative rights.

• It is highly recommended to print out these instructions as a reference during the installation process.

Download and Installation Instructions

1. To ensure that no other program interferes with the installation, save all work and close all other programs. The Taskbar should be clear of applications before proceeding.
2. Download the MTFOPD-01170000-US.EXE file to a temporary or download directory (please note this directory for reference).
3. Go to the directory where the file was downloaded and double-click the MTFOPD-01170000-US.EXE file to begin the installation.
4. At the "Matsushita UJ-841 DVD Writer Optical Drive Firmware Update Utility" screen, click "Next".
5. At the "License Agreement" dialog, read the agreement, then, if you agree, click "I Agree" to continue with the installation.NOTE: Several setup boxes may briefly appear during the installation. As the files are installed, these boxes will close automatically.
6. At the "F/W Loader for VAIO UJ-841" screen, open the disc tray by pressing the eject button on the optical drive, and then click "OK".NOTE: Do not close the disc tray until after the firmware update is complete.
7. At the next "F/W Loader for VAIO UJ-841" screen, read the instructions, then click "OK" to continue.
8. Click "OK" to start the firmware upgrade.
9. At the "Successfully completed" screen, click "Exit".
10. At the "Finish" screen, click "Finish".
11. Shut down the computer, wait one (1) minute and then power on the computer.

After the computer restarts, the installation of the Matsushita UJ-841 DVD Writer Optical Drive Firmware Update is complete.
